Just back from a really busy but hugely enjoyable day on the beautiful Isle of Jura.

It was so busy in fact that my last constituent had to finish our conversation as I was packing up and heading for the car.
And if it wasn’t for the F1-standard driving skills of Jenny Compton-Bishop, I might still be there.JURA3

Next time I promise to build in more time in my diary for Jura as the level of interest in both what I was doing at Westminster and the engagement of the local community in securing a bright future for the island was absolutely wonderful.JURA4
I didn’t even get to visit the Jura distillery…that’s how busy I was!JURA2
Before catching the boat back to the mainland, I managed to squeeze in a visit to the Port Askaig RNLI Lifeboat station on Islay.JURA5 I popped in to congratulate the crew on being awarded an RNLI Gallantry medal for their outstanding contribution to the rescue of a Russian yachtsman who somehow managed to hit the Skerryvore Lighthouse during the big storms back in February. Huge congratulations to the entire crew and big thank you to RNLI engineer Davie McArthur fit the tour, the tea and the chocolate biscuits.
