As an MP, you get to meet some remarkable people; courageous, brave, selfless people. imageAt my surgery in Oban I had the honour to meet 16 year old Laura Campbell. Laura, a pupil at Oban High School has blood cancer and is heading to Glasgow tomorrow to prepare for a bone marrow transplant operation. Despite her illness and ignoring the fact that she already has a donor with a perfect match in place, Laura has, with the help of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Anthony Nolan Trust, set up Laura’s Appeal, an appeal to encourage young folk aged between 16 and 30 to register as bone marrow donors. image
To find out more about Laura’s Appeal or to register an interest, please contact john.sweeney@firescotland.gov.uk or pop along to Oban Community Fire Station on Friday, September 30th between 4.00pm and 9.00pm.
