“Charities in Argyll & Bute looking for funding should attend People’s Postcode Lottery in Dunoon”:
Local charities and community groups in Argyll and Bute are set to benefit from a free funding workshop held by People’s Postcode Lottery and Brendan O’Hara MP.

With idea and knowledge sharing, specialist funding advice on meeting the criteria and a Q&A session, the workshop is designed to support smaller, local charities in applying for funding, ranging from £500 up to £20,000.

The half-day workshop will take place from 10am until 12noon on Friday 1 November at the Queen’s Hall, 9 Argyll Street, Dunoon, Argyll, PA23 7HH.

The workshop will look at three charitable, grant-giving trusts funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery – People’s Postcode Trust, Postcode Community Trust and Postcode Local Trust. These trusts fund a range of projects which promote human rights, combat discrimination and poverty, improve community health and well-being, tackle isolation, support arts and physical recreation and increase access to outdoor and green space and much more.

Last year over £8 million, raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, was awarded to thousands of local charities and good causes across Britain. Local projects right across Argyll and Bute have received over £260,991 in funding. Lismore Community Trust received £5,880 for their Give it a Go programme, aimed to reduce loneliness and social isolation within the community, with a focus on older people.

Argyll and Bute MP Brendan O’Hara said:

“I am delighted to be hosting this funding workshop for People’s Postcode Lottery, to help raise awareness that funds may be available and to ensure that local charities make the strongest application they can.

“Over the years, People’s Postcode Lottery have provided funds to so many local groups; from those providing services to people living with cancer or dementia, to those who protect our environment and improve our green spaces. So many in our community have benefitted from their relationship with People’s Postcode Lottery and I would encourage any charity in Argyll and Bute looking for funding to sign up for this workshop as soon as possible.”

Calum Munro, senior community programmes officer at People’s Postcode Lottery added: “We want to do all we can to help local charities and good causes successfully apply for funding. It is fantastic that funds raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery are making a huge difference in their own communities. I hope that local charities will join us at our Argyll and Bute workshop.”
