Thank you to everyone who has been in touch about the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. I know there is a lot of concern across Argyll and Bute about the impact the virus is having on our communities, our local businesses and the economy especially those in our hugely important food and drink industry, as well as hospitality and tourism.

The situation is changing daily and it is important we all do what we can to minimise risk. I am aware there is a lot of conflicting advice on social media and this is not always helpful. The best advice you can follow is that offered by the NHS https://www.nhsinform.scot and the Scottish Government https://www.gov.scot
Any local businesses with questions relating to the impact of COVID-19 are urged to call the Scottish Government’s business helpline number, 0300 303 0660. This will be open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm. Callers should select option one to speak to the COVID-19 team.

The First Minister will be holding live streamed daily press briefings with a range of ministers and experts/officials to update on the spread in Scotland, measures being taken (in conjunction with UK partners) and the NHS response.
Young Scot has also put together some very helpful advice for young people https://young.scot/get-informed/national/tips-on-how-to-deal-with-the-coronavirus-outbreak

Locally, I know a number of communities have joined forces to help each other out and this is great news. If you have set up a group or you know of anyone who is self isolating, as many of our elderly residents will be doing, please get in touch so we can link people up within local areas.

Some constituents have already been in touch about a lack of home delivery services on the islands as well as access to food in remote areas and it would be great to make sure they receive support during the weeks ahead.
